This is an\nexciting day for the founders of Isibindi Africa Lodges, who come from\nconservation backgrounds and have partnered for 24 years with our neighbouring\ncommunities on many pioneering community and conservation projects. The launch\nof the foundation cements these various initiatives under one umbrella and\nimproves our reach and resources as our guests\u2019 philanthropy continues to grow.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isibindi.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/04\/ISIBINDI_Foundation-C-1024x515.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10240\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Isibindi\nAfrica Trails<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nunu Jobe (a.k.a The Rhino Whisperer) and\nShaun Maitre formed Isibindi Africa Trails in 2016, with Nunu Jobe being the\nsingle biggest shareholder in the company. Formerly he was a head guide for the\nKZN Wildlife uMfolozi Wilderness Trails. The company currently operates from\nRhino Ridge Safari Lodge and offers guided walks in the park, offering\nemployment to 3 guides. Guests frequently rate this walking experience as one\nof the highlights of their trip to South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isibindi.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/04\/nunu-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10306\" \/><figcaption>It is an unforgettable experience walking with Nunu Jobe, so passionate about local animals and community<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Homestays<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located alongside the Hluhluwe iMfolozi\nPark, in the Hlabisa district of KwaZulu-Natal, the Nkosi family offers a Zulu\nhome stay within the Mpembeni community environs. The whole family is involved\nin the venture which offers an authentic experience of Zulu culture and\ntraditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accommodation is serviced and meals are\nprovided by the Nkosi family. Guests book privately through Isibindi Africa\nTrails or from the neighbouring Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge as a popular and\nauthentic alternative to a safari camp. Home Stay guests have the opportunity\nto wander through the community viewing woman weaving grass mats and baskets,\ndrink homemade beer and ilala palm wine or simply mingle with the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isibindi.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/07\/Fire-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10822\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Community schools Environmental Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge and Isibindi\nAfrica Trails supports environmental clubs in the Mpembeni Schools. In 2018\napproximately 150 children were taken in the lodge vehicles for a few hours guided\ntour of the game reserve. They were taken to the conference centre for talks\nand interactive learning sessions. This important initiative encourages the\ncreation of a human fence; where the local community is invested in protecting\nour wildlife from poaching. A wire fence can be torn down; a human fence\ncannot. For many of these children it was the first time they had visited a\ngame reserve, although they have grown up alongside Africa\u2019s oldest one, or\nwalked with a rhino. In addition there have been a number of days when we have\nundertaken indigenous tree planting projects, with these environmental clubs, at four of the local schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you book a stay at any of our lodges, please do ask\nabout joining a visit to one of our local community projects.
