These magnificent creatures are also revered for their size, longevity, stamina, mental faculties and loyalty to their own kind.South Africa, uses elephant tusks in their coat of arms to represent wisdom, strength, moderation and eternity.Perhaps you would like to support anti-poaching. MEET THE ISIBINDI FOUNDATION TEAMLuke Martin attended St Charles College in Pietermaritzburg and after school went on to complete a BComm. degree in Marketing Management and Honours in Tourism Management.Luke joined Isibindi Africa Lodges in early 2018 and gained valuable  experience in various departments of the company. In March 2019 he was appointed Projects Manager of The Isibindi Foundation. Luke now manages The Foundation and oversees and initiates The Foundation’s community and conservation projects. When not behind a desk or out in the field working with our local communities, Luke can be found fly fishing at Thonga Beach Lodge or Tsowa Safari Island!
Then and Now - Vulindlela Vegetable Garden.Only six weeks ago we helped the Mnyanyisa community near Lake Shengeza at Kosi Bay establish their very own Vulindlela Vegetable Garden. Now, already, these sixteen vegetable farmers are proud to show us how their hard work has borne fruit. It seems our mutual goal of enabling members of our community to, not only, achieve household-level food and nutritional security, but to generate income by selling surplus vegetables in local markets, is well on its way to success. An added benefit is that while the prime activity is small scale farming, these community gardens are also a place for people to come together as a community – a starting place for sharing and learning all kinds of new community based initiatives. The Isibindi Foundation would once again like to extend our enormous thanks to Gareth and Jo Chittenden of Zululand Nurseries Eshowe (ZNE) for their support in contributing, both their time and resources, to this worthy project.#foundationprojects

WE STAND WITH THE WORLDS RANGERSOn WORLD RANGERS DAY, we acknowledge all Game RANGERS who have fallen in the line of duty during the year. We also pay tribute to their families and communities left behind. The Isibindi Foundation will continue to recognise these dedicated men and women and never allow the sacrifices they make go unnoticed. They have our unconditional support. On World RANGERS Day, all Isibindi Africa lodges will pause for a minute at midday on Sunday, 31 July to pay respect to these heroes, who are the dedicated guardians of our natural heritage. This will allow us time to reflect on everything that our Game RANGERS do to protect our natural heritage, not only in our country but around the world.Without our heroes on duty, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, we would have lost many species to extinction a long time ago.We invite you to think about this - just for a moment - at noon on Sunday, 31 July - on World RANGERS Day.Two RANGER projects which The Isibindi Foundation supports are:The Nqumeni Section of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, where our Rhino Ridge is located, is one of the few areas that still make use of horses in conducting RANGER patrols. We support this section with various supplies such as hiking and camping gear for RANGERS on patrol, as well as additional resources and support should they be required. The Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is the birthplace of the Southern White Rhino. Today the rhino is once again under massive threat. The Foundation has launched a campaign to expand and improve the effectiveness of the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park K9 Unit by adding more dogs to the unit, who are a highly effective tool in the fight against poaching. All donations to these patrols are always received with great appreciation and it will take us a step closer to achieving our vision of investing in protecting this magnificent national park.https://isibindifoundation.org/our-projects/#get-involved#gamerangers
